Inspiration: If you can’t find time to exercise

I came across this the other day and it has stuck with me ever since. It’s from Tony Horton, the trainer from P90X. Yes, it’s an informercial.

Life with exercise creates a completely different journey than a life without it. Making the time for exercise means that you’re setting an intension to have a great life. Life without exercise means you’re setting an intension to miss out on a better life. The quality of your life improves with exercise and it will get worse without it. Period! Your weight lose is a minute piece to the overall health and fitness puzzle. Every time you exercise you improve your fitness, healthy and quality of life. You always feel good afterward and you allow your mind and body to become less vulnerable to illness and injury. Every day you decide NOT to exercise your health, fitness and quality of life diminishes. You become more vulnerable to illness and injury and the energy and enthusiasm (feeling good) for a better life is not there. This is true for everyone. No exceptions.

I started running. Let’s see if I can keep it up.

So I have been thinking about starting running recently. This summer the Wellness team at Apple is sponsoring a “Cardio challenge” at work, where people that walk or run a certain distance within certain dates will win T-shirts. Now a T-shirt isn’t that much motivation, but why not use it as a reason to go out and get that new pair of running shoes that I was looking at, and start running anyway.

So now I have:

  • New Nike Everydays with a Nike + iPod sensor
  • My iPod nano from last year
  • Stuart — My dog who loves to run
  • The Apple Fitness center cardio machines all support Nike+ so my workouts will count
  • An account on nikeplus.com to track all of my progess, I can even map my runs on google maps.

And yesterday was my first run. If you notice in the right hand nav bar, there is a little cartoon version of me that has my running statistics. As of today it shows 1 run, and a little over a mile. Let’s see what it shows by the time you read this.

Kingdoms Live tips and tricks: What are your goals and the risks of battle

So I had a few thoughts based on the comments in the other Kingdoms Live posts that got me wondering, What are your goals in this game? Like most MMOs, people play them for different reasons. Some people play World of Warcraft for raiding PVE content and becoming the first players in the world to defeat a boss. Some people play EVE or Warhammer Online because of its player versus player or PVP options that lets people battle each other. In Kingdoms Live, you get both options. You can do quests, which are PVE, and you can battle which is PVP. Which one you focus on is really your choice.

Kingdoms Live tips and tricks: What NOT to do

I’ve really been enjoying playing Kingdoms Live over the past few days, and have enjoyed blogging about it too. As I’ve been playing, I’ve realized some mistakes that I have made along the way, and almost wish there was a way to start over and do things perfectly. So I thought I would start compiling a list of what NOT to do, when playing. Sort of a list of frequently made mistakes that hopefully you can avoid. Such things as where NOT to spend your gold and skill points come to mind, and also how NOT to attack.
