Update on Business school

I haven’t written to give an update on my MBA in quite some time so I figured this would be as good of a time as any. The spring semester of the part-time program at San Jose State University begins right after the new year, so I am already midway thru the two courses that I am taking. Both classes are core requirement classes:

  • BUS220 is Accounting Principles
  • BUS250 is Managerial Law and Ethics

So far my grades in both classes have me on par to get an A in both of them, but there is still a long way to go.

Last semester I wound up with a mixed bag of grades.

  • BUS210 is Developing and Managing People and I got a B
  • BUS297D is Data Mining and I got an A
  • BUS210 is Operations and Supply Chain Management and I got an A-
  • BUS230 is Marketing Management and I got a B+

My current GPA is 3.6, but I am hoping with two A’s this session, I’ll be able to raise it up. After these two classes I am taking now, the next session has two courses that I am considering. I may take one or both of them.

  • BUS270Financial Management
  • BUS260Managerial Decision Analysis

I can’t officially register for the finance class until I complete the accounting class. I’m leaning towards taking that since it is a prerequisite for some of the other finance related electives that may be offered over the summer. The decision analysis class will likely be very similar to the Data Mining class I took, but since they are both core required classes, I will need to take them both eventually.
