Weekend tip: See hidden files in Finder in Snow Leopard

In Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6+), if you need to open a hidden file, all you need to do is type Cmd-Shift-. (that’s a period) in the standard Open File dialog. All hidden files will be displayed.

This is a toggle, so typing the shortcut a second time will hide the hidden files again.

This site is all about finding the somewhat subtle things about OS X that make it great. If you haven’t gotten snow leopard yet, what are you waiting for?

So Snow Leopard came out on Friday, a few weeks earlier than most people probably expected it. I’ve been using it for a few months, and have to say it’s really solid. It’s got a faster response time to applications, it has some new features that I’ve found really useful, and it’s hard to beat the price of $29.

I think one of the features that people will really grow to use is the new Quicktime screen recording. You can check out a sample of it here.

This may become the default way that I explain how to do things to my mother or sisters when I can’t find a time to screen share over iChat with them.

Overall, to quote David Pogue, it’s a no brainer. Faster system, you gain back hard drive space, Time Machine continues to work seamlessly for your backups, and it costs about the same lunch does out here in California.

I’m looking for a custom WordPress theme

Are you a web designer fluent in the ways of WordPress themes? I am looking for a new theme for my blog, and have grown tired of browsing through hundreds of free ones that either a) dozens of other sites already use or b) aren’t that great. I don’t usually blog about Apple products because I don’t want to mix business with personal life. But I am really impressed with this product.

It’s a lot faster than I thought it would be, and the video recording is quick, easy, and really good quality.

It’s up to you to decide if it’s the right phone for you, but I love it.

Oh and I posted this using it while walking Stuart, tracking a Nike plus workout and listening to music. But I guess you can’t multitask. /sarcasm

WordPress just came out with a new version of their iPhone app so I am testing it out. It’s version 1.2. I will add a picture too of something. Hmm what should I take a picture of?

Here’s a river otter at the Monterey Aquarium.

I got to take my first trip down there last Friday with work. I’ve been struggling with the selection of seafood out here, and after perusing a pamphlet, my choices are even more limited based on my new awareness of over-fishing that is taking place. It seems that the Orange Roughy we tried the other day wasn’t the most environmentally responsible meal we could have eaten.
